Become a Kent County Council Trading Standards Checked Business

The application process is simple and straight forward. Our checks and vetting may take up to 10 days to complete but in many cases, it will be quicker, and once complete you will receive an email to confirm your membership.

You can save your online application at any time and log back into your trader account to complete it another time.

Please ensure you have read the terms and conditions of the scheme in full before applying. Every business is treated individually, they must meet the scheme criteria and pass the vetting checks in order to receive a membership.

Who can apply?

Your business must be based in the Kent (including Medway) administrative area and provide home improvement or maintenance services to Kent residents to join KCC Trading Standards Checked.

Free Membership

During the Coronavirus pandemic, the government is providing financial support for businesses to support them and help them survive during this challenging time. KCC Trading Standards Checked is following this lead and offering free membership to all traders based in Kent (subject to the outcome of vetting checks) to support local Traders and businesses.

Terms and Conditions for the free membership offer
  • Application forms must be submitted and completed by 11:00pm on 30th June 2020.
  • Your business must be based within Kent or Medway, and provide home improvement or maintenance services to Kent residents.
  • Membership is subject to the criteria being met and the outcome of completed vetting checks.
To complete your application, you will need...
  • A digital copy of your Public Liability Insurance
  • 1 document to prove your identity
  • 1 document to prove your address
  • A current photo of yourself (this will be added to your business webpage)
  • Digital copies of licences and accreditations if you provide services that require them. These include Gas Safe, Asbestos Removal Licence, Waste Carriers Licence and Street Works Registration.
Proof of Identity

The form of ID must be a different document to that for proof of address for all owners / directors on the application form. You cannot use one form of identification for both name and address.

For example, if you provide your passport as proof of your identity you must provide another form of identification for your address, such as a utility bill. Photos or scans of documents are fine.

To join Trading Standards Checked you must have valid Public Liability Insurance (PLI).
